Murals of Zaragoza

One of the things I love about Zaragoza are the murals and graffiti. The graffiti was a bit overwhelming at first but unlike in the US, the vast majority is not gang related. It is a form of street art. There is even a graffiti festival in Zaragoza where they chose artist to paint the murals. it is called Festival Asalto. This link has stories on the artist and images of some of the murals painted each year. The Zaragoza tourism site also has an Urban Art page that highlights some of the city's murals. I am starting this page to showcase some of the murals and fun graffiti that I spy around the city in my wanderings.

I will update it periodically as I encounter new ones.

This is right around the corner from our flat. We took this from one of our bus stops.

Yes, It is an auto repair shop! (Across the street from the mural above)

Ok, This is balloons but still wicked cool.

This one made me think about our friends who are into scouting in Louisville.

I love this even though it is a collection and not truly a mural. The 10 rectangles at the bottom are mirrors at children's height and say something about being the art and making art.

Had my phone out to snap the picture of the collection above when I spied this one right in front of me. Both of these are between our house and our neighborhood futbol (soccer) club.

These are straight graffiti that I spied along the outside wall of another neighborhood fûtbol club accross town. The colors, details, and creativity of them made me smile.

I have no idea what this little guy is from but I see him painted all over town in different colors with different initials inside.

Just a quick snap out the bus window, Along a park wall

This old guy is painted on an old building deep in a block near the Central Mercado of old town Zaragoza

Combo of a Mural with graffiti. But check out bunnygirl's hand. She is working a Rubik's cube.

This one is not complete. We saw a woman setting up to paint more as we walked by. Snapped the pic while waiting to cross the road. It is on the front wall of a school in our neighborhood.

Another mural painted inside the grounds of the school. Snapped as we walked by.
